Teens

Do you enjoy music?

Want to develop your music skills, rehearse, and perform with professional musicians?

Become a SingJam teen songleader!

Over the course of eight weeks, you will learn to:

  • Collaborate with other musicians
  • Engage a crowd with music
  • Play drums/percussion
  • Sing harmony*
  • Sing melody*
  • Teach songs

*Singing is not required. Instrumentalists encouraged to apply.

The program includes weekly rehearsals on Wednesday evenings from 7:30-9:00 pm with a team of professional musicians at SingJam HQ in West Berkeley + opportunities to perform publicly for audiences of primarily families with young children around the Bay Area (mostly in Berkeley for now).

Rehearsals involve jamming through the SingJam repertoire while working on music and leadership skills. Performances are 50 minutes plus set up and breakdown time (about 1.5 hours total). You will play along with the songs you have learned in rehearsals (unplugged at first). When ready, you will have the opportunity to plug in and lead songs on the microphone (if you want).

You don’t have to be a virtuoso singer or pro at your instrument, you just have to listen attentively and come to the music with humility, love, and patience.

We are currently finishing out our first eight week program (ends the week of April 4th) and are aiming to start the next session soon. Join us!

Program fee: $360 for 8 weeks. Financial aid is available. No one turned away for lack of funds.

Graduates of the program have the opportunity to become professional, paid members of the SingJam team.
